East Cape Guides™ was started in 2000 to allow working professionals to spend more time fishing and relaxing, and less time scheduling charter boats and buying tackle. Time and time again we see inexperienced anglers without the proper gear and knowledge to maximize the opportunity to catch a fish of a lifetime. This is why we think you should go with us:

 

Planning

We work with you to plan a trip that will give you the best chance at landing the target species of your choice (billfish, tuna, dorado, wahoo). We'll also provide you with the best options for accommodations and amenities while staying on the East Cape. After we have planned your trip with you, we connect you with a Van Wormer Resorts reservations agent that handles all the reservations for lodging and boat charters. We will help you with selecting only the best rooms and boats available. Clients must confirm and pay a deposit to hold all reservations.

 

Accommodations

For accommodations, East Cape Guides™ has selected what we think are the premiere resorts on the East Cape. Voted one of the top 25 fishing resorts in the world by Field and Stream magazine, Van Wormer Resorts provides a great experience for anglers worldwide with great snorkeling, scuba, sea kayaking, ATVing, horseback riding and relaxing at the pool. They also giving back to the communities of the East Cape.

 

Van Wormer Resorts includes Hotel Palmas de Cortez, Hotel Playa Del Sol, Hotel Punta Colorada and Villas De Cortez. The Van Wormer family has been serving the sportfishing community since 1966 when Robert Van Wormer opened Hotel Punta Colorada. They have been an integral part of the East Cape community ever since. Each hotel has it's own feel from standard courtyard and ocean view cabana style rooms to deluxe ocean view rooms, take your pick. All meals are included at Hotel Playa Del Sol and Hotel Punta Colorada only.

This knowledge translates into selecting the best boats, seasons, tackle, bait and techniques to give you the best opportunity to land that fish of a lifetime. We also have extensive knowledge of the history, marine life and ecology of the Sea of Cortez, enriching your understanding of why Baja's East Cape is such an unique destination.

 

Communication

Communication with a captain and mate is an important aspect to maximizing your enjoyment on the water and catch at the end of the day. The language barrier or just the misunderstanding of how the captain and mate are fishing can be a cause for confusion and frustration. Our guides have an extensive understanding of the East Cape fishery and can communicate with a captain and/or mate a target fish or style of fishing your party prefers. Remember, captains and mates want you to catch fish, but sometimes communication can get in the way.

 

On-The-Water Guide Service

East Cape Guides™ is not a fishing destination host, we are an on-the-water guide service and outfitter. Our services include on-the-water instruction in Baja "run and gun" style fishing with all top-of-line tackle included and we document your catch in photos and HD videos on DVD free of charge. It is our sincere pleasure in documenting a child's first fish and your life long memory. We recommend a child be 12 years of age or older before fishing offshore.
